Epic wins IELA award for mobile learning apps

Epic has won the mobile learning award for its Collins GCSE Maths Revision apps at the 2012 International E-learning Association (IELA) awards.

This is the first time a mobile learning award has been introduced at IELA. The IELA Award winners were announced at a ceremony at the International Conference on E-learning in the Workplace (ICELW) in New York on the 15th June.

The suite of apps developed by Epic and Collins Education includes four GCSE maths revision apps for Apple and Android mobile devices. Launched in 2011, the suite of apps have had over 20,000 downloads.

The apps were developed using Epic's mobile authoring tool, GoMo Learning, and contain 3-5 hours of content each.

Jonathan Satchell, Epic's CEO, said: "We're delighted to have won in the mobile category for the Collins Math Apps.

"This win further cements our position as leaders in the mobile learning space, and we're committed to continuing to deliver exceptional m-learning content on multiple platforms using our mobile authoring tool GoMo Learning."

Epic was also awarded an Honorable Mention in the 'e-Learning - Business Division' category, for its work with StarTraq Training.

StarTraq processes driving offences for a third of the UK's police forces, diverting offenders who have opted against paying a fine towards driver education. Epic developed a seatbelt safety e-learning course for those caught driving without a seatbelt.
